Why make up?
Make up is fake! It makes people look like plastic dolls!
Make up causes so many skin problems!
So many questions popping out of people's head when they heard things about make up. A lot of them think that it's causing skin problems, and most of all - making them look fake.
I too, used to think like that.
I probably haven't told you exactly about my make up experience. How I started my make up addiction (and by addiction I mean hoard), how I fell in love with it, how I experimented with it.
Okay so back when I was in Elementary School, me and my friends were the ones who... dare I say grew up so fast? I don't know. During breaks, we used to compare our teen magazines and looked at some ads about girls wearing make up. Simple make up such as powder, tinted lip balm, and so on. We looked and read some beauty tips and we decided to save up some money and buy some starter like lip balms (which, for Elementary students, it sounds pretty cool for having lip balm). We used them during class, and after we ate. And just like that, I've seen one or two girls in our year started buying lip balms. Haha!
When I was in Middle School I don't remember using make up that much, but I do remember using eyeliner. I was in a sort of emo / rock band (I am even embarrassed saying that I was, or so I thought I was, emo). Me and the boys (I was the only girl) used the eyeliner on our bottom lash line. And we thought, again, we were pretty cool.
High School year probably the time where I felt like I would like to experience with make up a little bit more. I started buying cheap eyeshadows, blushes, even lipsticks. I remembered one time going out to my friend Winny's birthday party and I was the one with full make up on (which I didn't look good). I still put eyeliner only on my bottom lash line. and a bit of hot pink blush, with pink lip gloss. And for a high schooler, I think I look pretty decent.
I left the make up world for about a year and I went back to loving it just when I met this beautiful girl named Chyntara in my early uni year. For me, she's a very beautiful girl, with or without make up on. And I learned that she was a cheerleader, and she taught me a thing or two about make up. During uni year I went there with only eyeliner and powder, and then I bought some more like lipsticks, neutral eyeshadow, mascara, foundation, bronzer, and so on. So I guess I could say thanks to her, I fell in love with make up again.
So why make up?
With all the experience I told you guys earlier I never told anyone that I am a very insecure person. I was always compared with other people and none of them think I'm beautiful. During those years, without a single person saying that, I felt self pity, and self hate. But I found this colorful things called make up that could make me at least temporarily pretty and in a way, decent looking.
Sounds really harsh? I know. Probably I was putting it in a wrong way.
Put it this way. I don't want to use make up because I want to be somebody else. I believe naturally all girls are pretty, but they just don't know how to enhance it. That's how I explained it. I didn't know I was pretty, but now I have a way to enhance them.
Make ups aren't everything. They're just products. They're just creme, liquid, and powder. Yes they help covering your imperfections and enhancing your natural self. I have seen a lot of girls with make up on, they look gorgeous and all boys drool for them. But they're mean, arrogant, and treat other people badly. That way, they look ugly. For me there's nothing attractive in them.
In the other hand, I have seen ordinary girls with intelligence, kind-hearted, gentle, yet nobody notices them. Why? Because first impression is everything. Their face looks ordinary and not enhanced. They have a lot to offer, but people don't see them because they have zero interesting appearance.
This is why I love make up. It enhances someone's beauty into something that's presentable, but still they can be themselves. I'm not saying that you should buy a lot of make up to prove my point, but at least a simple make up will do. Probably treat yourself with a nice moisturizer, powder (or powder foundation), and a tinted lip balm. Bet your bottom dollars, these things aren't expensive and a good way to start. If you're afraid of using make up, all you have to do is find out what's your skin type and skin tone, and then buy some products that compliments them. Also it is very important to make sure your skin isn't allergic or sensitive to some ingredients that the cosmetic has. Research before buying the products won't hurt.
So, why make up?
Because it makes me, and my self, look pretty. It enhances not only my face and my beauty, also my confidence.
Hope you're having a wonderful time!
Stay awesome.
